Surf's Up ...

Miss Tween received a gift certificate for a surfing lesson for Christmas.

And I need to start by saying this. One of my favourite things about Miss Tween is that she will give anything a go. I hope she keeps that trait forever. I told her that today.

She was in a pretty foul mood this morning when she woke and we almost cancelled the lesson and then it started raining and I almost stayed home.

But off we went to a little beach that I have not visited for years. It was an old stomping ground of mine as a teenager. It's definitely a "locals" kind of place. So many people surfing, SUP'ing, swimming, running. And the coach informed us later, that she loves days like today when the waves are perfect for learning to surf.

After half an hour of warm ups and lessons on her "surfboard" on the sand, it was time to hit the waves. And hit them she did.

She stood up on her first attempt.

The coach was lovely. The water temperature was warmer than the temperature on the shore and the rain held off until we were heading back to the car.

The verdict. She loved it and wants to do it again. And Punk Chic thinks she might like to have a go as well.

An hour and a half lesson and Miss Tween was exhausted afterwards.

Might just be one of the best presents she has received for Christmas!!!
