Or Maybe I Didn't...

So, after jumping head first into accepting my uni offer, DH and I decided to have a bit of a chat about the next year and we've decided that maybe it would be better to defer for the year.

Boooooo!!!!!

But, really, it does make sense. If all goes according to plan I will NEVER work as a library assistant and, all my voluntary work, whether it be in a library or not, will probably not require a university degree.

So, we're just gonna ride out the next year with all our big plans and see if I'm still up for it next year or, if yet again, I've changed my idea of the perfect career choice!

Another "I did it Moment"...

Forgot to mention that I received my Uni offer last Thursday with instructions that the offer needed to be accepted by Friday! Sheesh, don't give a girl any time to think about it!

So, as is the most level-headed thing to do, I jumped straight onto the website and accepted! And now I'm quietly shitting myself!

Mainly because the university is in WA and I'm not. That's the big one. I'm feeling slightly out of my depth. BUT.... I have enrolled in one unit so I've got 7 weeks I think to sort it out. I can see me being quite the crammer!

I've decided I'll just take it as it comes, get in contact with the faculty and find out where I go online to find "stuff" and then, make a final decision before 17th March before any fees are due.

Talk about not letting the grass grow huh?

Landed Her Straight In It.....

I feel so bad right now. I just called my best friend on her mobile to talk about "me" and the police pulled her over for being on her phone.

I have no idea if they'll let her off and I can't call her back to see what happened because I'm scared the police will still be with her. I have totally ruined her day and I feel sick about it.

I will pay the fine, that's not a problem but I have turned her one day off this week to bad!

I feel so crappy now!

BAS Shmas!!!

I have 3 to do by the 28th February and, as usual, even though I have been given the extra month after Christmas/New Year I have left it until the last minute to do anything about it!

So. Not. Motivated.

Ugh! I'll start tomorrow.

Out of the mouth of Babes???

While I am impressed that she can count to 10 now I didn't think our 19 month old would say this when asked about her fondness for our dog. I thought it was so funny.

Daddy: Don't you like Dodge?
Schmoo: Nope!
Daddy: Why not?
Schmoo: Cos. *said with an unmistakable teenage tone too*

No idea where it came from because I don't even think her older sister says it but there you go.

It seems to be the standard reply tonight to the point that she then started saying "Why? Cos! Why? Cos!" just so she could be sure that we knew that she knew that we knew!

The things kids say huh?

No! I insist...

So, it dawned on me today, that I really have not refreshed my road rules memory since the age of 17 when the freedom of a licence was all my teenage heart desired. I truly thought that life couldn't get any better once I had my own wheels.

There are some road rules we use everyday without even thinking about it but, this particular road rule had me stumped this morning. Refer to the diagram below. If both cars are stopped who gives way? This is purely hypothetical. I can't recall the last time I've been in this predicament but, if I were, I envisage me sitting there, waving my hand for the other guy to go only for him to wave back.

Me: After you.
Him: No, please be my guest!
Me: No. Really. You should go first.
Him: Are you sure? You could go first you know?
Me: No. I insist.

It would probably end with both of us going at the same time and smashing into each other.

Now, upon being at home and drawing up the diagram and having a good think about it, I think the person going straight ahead would get right of way. All pleasantries aside. What do you think?

Love Is In The Air...

Or is it???

Today is the day that is filled with romance and the promise of love for another year.

It is also a day remembered in history for a string of other events that don't seem overly filled with love and romance.

* Al Capone's mobsters took out members of a rival gang in a warehouse in 1929 in the St Valentines Day Massacre - Happy Valentines Day you Dirty Rat;

* Captain Cook was killed in Hawaii in 1779 - Happy Valentines Day James;

* And poor old St Valentine himself was beheaded on this day in approx 278 AD if we are to believe our good friends at History.com

I guess, for Mr St Valentine himself, at least his death is one with romantic connotations, performing marriages for young lovers in secret at a time when marriage was outlawed.

So, for most, it's a nice day where we receive flowers and chocolates, maybe even a marriage proposal but spare a thought for the poor florists working their butts off to deliver the bajillions of flowers that are ordered today.

It is, quite possibly, a florist's busiest day - well, that and mothers day - but it is a day filled with stress. Flowers don't arrive from the wholesalers on time, if it all. Quite often they don't get even half of the flowers they ordered and then customers, you know the ones. They complain about the price of roses like we're performing a heist. Talk to the wholesalers who will tell you to talk to the growers. Everybody needs to find a time throughout the year to make a bit of money and most rose growers jump on the opportunity that is Valentines Day. I personally don't like roses anyway so you could spend your money more wisely and buy me something else that is still around the same price. Just a thought.

But, once it all stops and we can look back and marvel at the love we have delivered to so many people on this day, it certainly makes it all worth it. Anybody remember the movie Bed of Roses where Christian Slater takes his girl on a day of deliveries to see people's faces when they receive their flowers? That's it. Right there. People really still get a buzz out of receiving flowers. It's why most florists are florists. They love giving one of their creations to brighten somebody's day.

So I will be one of those silly florists working my butt off down at my friends shop to try and get all the orders out and keep the shop full and the customers happy while still trying to enjoy the day.

Happy Valentines Day everybody.

The Mum Song...

The scariest thing about this song is that I've only been parenting for 5 years and I think I've nearly used every word. :o

Sooooo Anyway...

Was down at my friend's florist shop the other day and there was a photo there from the last time I took the girls down to meet the newest bubba in the group.

The photo was taken by H's mother so I was holding H and had Schmooey and AJ gathered around me also. AJ was being her usual charming 4 year old self and having some kind of issewe about not wanting to sit with anyone else for the photo. So there I was, one of three adults in the picture, with all three kids and you know what?

It. Just. Looks. Right!

Hubby is still not totally convinced but we're on the "if it happens" wagon, however I think secretly he thinks it will be kinda cool while shitting himself at the same time.

We took off to Ikea this morning - they really are the stacking specialists, those clever little Swedes - to buy bunk beds for the girls because we (read I) decided to put the girls into a room together. My little Schmooey will go into a big girls bed and I'm hoping she will settle better being in a room with her big "Sis-Ah". And if #3 doesn't eventuate, or if Schmoo wants to go back to her room, we have AJ's bed for the other room and a spare bed in AJ's room for sleepovers.

See, win-win!
